HON.(DR.) BABATUNDE OYETOLA DIYA REJOICES WITH ALAYE ABA OF ABA KINGDOM ON 1ST CORONATION ANNIVERSARY, INSTALLATION OF NEW CHIEFS AND PALACE FUND LAUNCH
The Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya, today, Saturday 20th December 2025, joined the people of Aba Kingdom, Aiyepe-Ijebu, in a joyous celebration marking the 1st Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Michael Kolawole Adekoya Olugboyega I (Ilufemiloye), the Alaye Aba of Aba Kingdom.
The colourful and historic ceremony also featured the installation of new chiefs into the traditional council and the grand launching of the ₦1.3 Billion Alaye Aba Palace Fund, aimed at strengthening the royal institution and preserving the cultural heritage of the kingdom.
While addressing the gathering, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya used the opportunity to warmly greet and acknowledge all royal fathers, high chiefs, community leaders, dignitaries and guests who came from far and near to celebrate with His Royal Majesty on the auspicious occasion.
Prominent royal fathers present at the historic event included His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba (Okokodanomeji II), the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye; His Royal Majesty, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adedeji Adebajo (Ojuromi VI), the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo; His Royal Highness, Oba Adebisi Rosiji Okubanjo, JP,FN,IM the Obiri of Idobiri, Aiyepe and paramount ruler of Aiyepe-Ijebu; His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Oduneye Odusanya (Osijiya II), the Olu of Odosenlu-Alaro, Ijebu-Ode; and His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulganiu Olusegun Awokoya-Yesufu, the Onirete of Irete Kingdom, among other distinguished monarchs including Hon. The Executive Chairman described the monarch’s first year on the throne as one marked by peace, unity and purposeful leadership, commending Kabiyesi for his dedication to the progress and stability of Aba Kingdom.
In a show of goodwill and support for the royal vision, Hon. Diya donated the sum of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000.00) to the Alaye Aba Palace Fund, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to partnering with traditional institutions for grassroots development.
He congratulated the newly installed chiefs and urged them to see their elevation as a call to service, loyalty and unwavering support for the Alaye Aba in advancing the development of the kingdom.
Hon. Diya prayed for long life, sound health and a peaceful reign for His Royal Majesty, while wishing the people of Aba Kingdom continued prosperity.
