The Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya, has continued to drive agricultural transformation through a strategic collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) under the Open-Field Horticulture Initiative of the Green Hope Project to empower 100 women farmers on 10 hectares of land. This partnership, entered into on 9th December 2025, is designed to strengthen food security, promote sustainable farming systems, and stimulate agribusiness growth within Odogbolu Local Government.
Following the official flag-off of the project on 20th January 2026, the Chairman has ensured rapid mobilisation and effective field operations. As of today, Wednesday 25th February 2026, five (5) hectares of farmland at Odo-Epo have been fully cleared and prepared for cultivation, reflecting steady progress in the project’s first phase. To support year-round horticultural production, a Functional Solar Borehole has been completed with an overhead water tank of 22,000 litres capacity, while irrigation pipelines with tap points have been installed to guarantee efficient water delivery across the cultivated plots.

Meanwhile, another five (5) hectares of land at Imaka is currently undergoing clearing and preparations for cultivation. These milestones underscore the Chairman’s commitment to mechanised agriculture, improved crop yield, and rural economic empowerment in Odogbolu Local Government.
In line with earlier commitments made at the inception of the project, it is important to reiterate that the Project is designed to directly empower one hundred (100) women farmers, battling poverty and promoting sustainable economic development at grassroots promise which still stands and remains a core objective of the initiative. Beneficiaries of the land will also receive critical agricultural inputs, including improved seedlings, fertilizers, approved agro-chemicals, irrigation support, and continuous extension services to promote best farming practices and maximize yields in vegetable production.
