Akintunde Leads YPM Solidarity Walk Following Adeola’s APC Win

The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, on Thursday led thousands of supporters in a solidarity and acceptance walk in honour of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, following his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Ogun State.

The procession, which drew party loyalists and supporters from different parts of the state, was organised to celebrate Senator Adeola’s victory at the APC governorship primary and to reaffirm the group’s support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections.

Akintunde also congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun on his emergence as the APC senatorial candidate for Ogun-East Senatorial District. He further felicitated the YPM State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka, for securing the party’s ticket for Ifelodun Constituency II in Ijebu North Local Government Area.

The YPM Convener equally extended congratulations to other APC candidates who emerged victorious in the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primaries conducted across the state.

According to him, the victories recorded by the party’s candidates reflected the confidence reposed in them by party members and stakeholders, expressing optimism that the APC would remain united and victorious in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking during the mobilisation walk held at Abeokuta on Thursday, the Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, commended the leadership of the party in Ogun State for what he described as a well-coordinated and successful primary process.

Akintunde stated that the Yayi Progressives Movement remains committed to grassroots mobilisation and would work tirelessly to ensure victory for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the group has continued to grow into one of the most influential grassroots political support movements in Ogun State, playing strategic roles in mobilisation, political engagement and strengthening support for the APC across communities.

He added that Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) remains committed to promoting progressive leadership, party unity and sustainable development for the people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

“I am here today with thousands of our members despite the short notice. Although only a few of our members could make it here physically, we all witnessed what happened during the recent inauguration at Ake Palace. We mobilised those available to participate in today’s exercise,” – he said.

“I am glad that we are part of history today as our principal, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, has emerged as the governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

Akintunde also congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun on his emergence as the APC senatorial candidate for Ogun East, describing the development as a thing of joy.

“It is my pleasure to congratulate our leader and Governor of Ogun State, who recently emerged as the APC flag bearer for Ogun East Senatorial District. This is a personal joy for me because His Excellency is an Iperu-born prince, just like myself,” – he said.

He further congratulated the Yayi Progressives Movement State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka, on securing the APC ticket for Ijebu North II Constituency.

“I cannot end this message without congratulating our committed and reliable State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka, on his emergence as the party flag bearer for Ijebu North II Constituency. Hon. Kaka has truly reaped the rewards of his dedication and service, and I commend the party leadership in the constituency for recognising his efforts.”

Akintunde reaffirmed the group’s readiness to work for the continued success of the APC in Ogun State.

“As a team, we are fully prepared for the task ahead. We are committed to ensuring that the All Progressives Congress retains power in Ogun State from top to bottom. I congratulate all our leaders, brothers and sisters who emerged as party flag bearers across the local governments, senatorial districts and the state. May God crown all our efforts with success.”
