2027 Elections: PDP Begins Remo Campaign, Mobilises Support for OmoOwo and Bolarinwa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has commenced its 2027 campaign activities with a vibrant flag-off and campaign walk in Surulere, Ile Baba Ara, Remo, as the party intensifies grassroots mobilisation ahead of the January 16, 2027 election.

The campaign featured the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, and House of Representatives candidate, Asiwaju Bolarinwa Oluwole, alongside party leaders, supporters, youths, women, and various support groups.

The procession, which commenced around 8:00 a.m., witnessed participation from groups including LADO Babes, LADO Riders, PDP Babes, Lady Ova, ABO Babes, Omo Tayo Omo Owo Babes, Siko Foundation, and other party structures.

The colourful mobilisation reflected the PDP’s effort to strengthen its grassroots presence in Remo and the wider Ogun East Senatorial District ahead of the elections.

Beyond the crowd and campaign activities, political observers say the contest will ultimately be shaped by candidates’ programmes, track records, credibility, accessibility, and their ability to translate campaign promises into tangible development.

A participant at the event also stressed the need for responsive representation, saying voters want leaders who will remain accessible and attentive to community needs beyond the election period.

For the PDP, the Remo campaign flag-off represents an opening statement and an opportunity to demonstrate its organisational strength. The party is expected to sustain the momentum through ward-to-ward mobilisation, stakeholder engagements, youth and women’s outreach, and direct interaction with voters.

As other political parties prepare to intensify their campaigns, the 2027 contest in Ogun East and Remo Federal Constituency is set to become increasingly competitive.

The Remo campaign has opened the political race; the real test will be whether the PDP can sustain its momentum and convert mobilisation into electoral support.
