I’m Not Desperate For International Recognition — Olamide

Nigerian indigenous rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has revealed that identifying his audience was a major factor in shaping his music career, emphasizing that he is not desperate for international validation.

The “Local Rapper” crooner stated this in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he explained that he remains committed to his indigenous sound and has no plans to alter his style to suit Western tastes.

“You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world will catch up eventually. So, I have to stay true to myself and no matter where it is, what it is, I mean, in this world, I have to stay true to myself,” he said.

“I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, Yoruba boy, I have H-Factor and all that, and I’m proud about it. You just have to stay true to yourself,” Olamide added.
