Tyla Beats Afrobeats Heavyweights to Clinch Best African Music Performance at 68th Grammys

South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, beating Nigerian superstars Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr.

Tyla clinched the prize with her hit song Push 2 Start, triumphing over Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

The category, introduced to spotlight African music on the global stage, once again featured strong Nigerian representation, with Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr among the final nominees.

With the latest win, Tyla has now claimed the award twice since its introduction in 2024. She made history that year by winning the inaugural Best African Music Performance award with her breakout single Water.
