Mr Macaroni, Falz, Funke Akindele, Others Decry Kwara and Kebbi Attacks, Urge Government Intervention

Several prominent Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to condemn the recent attacks in Kwara and Kebbi states, calling on the government to urgently address the rising insecurity.

Their reactions follow reports of a terrorist attack on a church in Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed on Tuesday that suspected bandits killed at least two people and injured one during the attack. A parish of the Christ Apostolic Church was invaded during a service, with a livestream video of the incident circulating online.

Tension was further heightened by the pre-dawn attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where 25 students were abducted and a staff member was killed.

Reacting on X on Wednesday, comedian and actor Ayo Makun (AY) expressed frustration over the worsening security situation. He wrote:
“Nigeria is turning into a crime scene. Bandits storm churches to kill and abduct Christians. Children are kidnapped from schools. A Brigadier General is shot dead. Every day brings fresh chaos. How did we get here? We need safety, accountability and real action, not silence.”

Rapper and actor Folarin Falana (Falz) also demanded swift intervention from President Bola Tinubu, asking:
“How many more people have to be kidnapped and murdered in cold blood?”

Skit maker Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, lamented the repeated incidents of violence, stressing that insecurity affects all Nigerians regardless of region.
“These terrorist attacks concern all of us… We cannot keep quiet while Nigerians are being slaughtered in different parts of the country,” he wrote on Wednesday.
He also criticised the President for not addressing the nation, saying schoolchildren and security agents had been murdered “in cold blood.”

Actress Funke Akindele expressed distress after watching the livestream of the Kwara church attack.
“I wept seeing that old woman who couldn’t walk well running for safety. They are harmless citizens… I’m so weak,” she wrote.

Social media influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa said the livestream showed how vulnerable everyone is.
“That livestream put it into reality for so many of us. The reality is that it can happen to anyone,” he said.

Actress Kate Henshaw blamed the crisis on leadership failure, stating:
“There is everything wrong with those saddled with the responsibility of leading and making sure lives and property are safe.”

Medical doctor and influencer Chinonso Egemba, known as Aproko Doctor, described the situation as a failure of governance.
“This is terrorism, and it cannot continue… NigeriaGov, protect your citizens. We have a right to live!” he wrote.
