Nigerians Must Support Local Industries to Strengthen the Economy — Dangote

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has called on Nigerians to support the nation’s economic growth by purchasing and promoting locally made products.

In a video message shared by former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Dangote emphasised that prioritising homegrown goods over imported ones would help strengthen the economy and create employment opportunities.

“I want to encourage all Nigerians to buy only made in Nigeria. When you buy anything made in Nigeria, you are helping to create jobs,” Dangote said. “The only way for us to be a stronger nation is to patronise ourselves and buy made-in-Nigeria goods so that we can create jobs and prosperity.”

Dangote, known for his consistent advocacy for local production, has expanded his conglomerate’s presence across various sectors — including cement, sugar, salt, and oil refining — with the goal of reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imports.

His message comes amid ongoing calls for industrialisation and economic diversification in the country.
