The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, David Oyedepo, has urged Christians to embrace and apply divine wisdom in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking during the 40th anniversary thanksgiving service of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on Thursday, Oyedepo emphasized that true leadership and national progress are rooted in wisdom rather than power.
He said divine wisdom is the heritage of every believer in Christ, noting that Christians have the mind of Christ and the capacity to provide solutions to life’s problems.
The cleric highlighted the contributions of the church to sectors such as education, the economy, and healthcare, and urged Christians to take the lead in tackling the pressing challenges confronting the nation.
“Through wisdom, kings reign and princes decree justice. Jesus is the wisdom and the power of God. We have continued to celebrate power; now, let us move forward and start celebrating wisdom. Divine wisdom is our heritage in redemption. We now have the mind of Christ with the capacity to create solutions,” he said.
Oyedepo encouraged believers to seek divine wisdom that would enhance the church’s positive impact on society. “It is time to start calling down the wisdom of God to keep creating solutions to the seemingly impossible challenges of life around us. Let us ask from God the wisdom that will show the way forward towards our enthronement in our various areas of endeavour,” he added.
The National President of PFN, Bishop Wale Oke, commended the founding fathers of the fellowship for their dedication and sacrifice, which, he said, laid a strong foundation for the body.
Oke recalled that the PFN originated from the “Greater Lagos for Christ” crusade organized by the late evangelist Rev. Uma Ukpai in 1985, describing him as a passionate and detribalized servant of God.
Speaking on the theme, “PFN: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” Oke noted that the fellowship had remained a unifying force for the Pentecostal movement in Nigeria, fostering spiritual growth, national impact, and unity within the church.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Special Adviser on Christian Matters, Rev. Bukola Adeleke, praised the PFN for its contributions to national development and moral leadership.
“PFN has also served as a moral compass for our public life, speaking truth to power with courage and grace, calling leaders to accountability, and upholding the sanctity of life, justice, and peace,” he said.
Awards were presented to the founding fathers of the fellowship in recognition of their contributions to the growth of Pentecostalism in Nigeria.
Among those honoured were Rev. Charles Osueke, Rev. O. Ezekiel, Rev. D.O. Ogunkanmi, Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Pastor William Kumuyi, Rev. Samuel Odunaike, Pastor E.O. Abina, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, and the late Rev. Uma Ukpai.
