TMC-NEWS Leads 3-Day Campaign Against Domestic and Sexual Violence in Ijebu-Ode

The Movement Team of Tosin Media Concept Telecommunication (TMC-NEWS) has successfully concluded a three-day sensitization program aimed at tackling domestic and sexual violence in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area.

The awareness campaign, themed “Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: It Concerns Us All,” ran from September 19 to 21, 2025, and featured a press conference, market outreach, free medical services, and a rally across Ijebu-Ode and its environs.

Program Activities

The event kicked off with a press conference, followed by a public awareness campaign at Olabisi Onabanjo Market, where participants received free medical checks such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests. Basic drugs and consultations were also provided, alongside sexual education and counseling sessions.

The program attracted over 250 participants, including dignitaries and advocates such as:

Michael Abiodun (Oracle of Peace)

Oluwasegun Ajayi (Alaseye Odua)

Samuel (Prestigious Sammy)

Adebesin Abiodun Abacha (Justice Development and Peace Commission)

Tosin Oshibanjo (Convener and CEO of TMC-NEWS)

The sensitization drive wrapped up with a rally through major streets in Ijebu-Ode, drawing attention to the dangers of sexual and domestic violence.

Keynote Messages

Speaking at the event, Oluwasegun Ajayi underscored the role of collective responsibility in ending sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). He urged the use of social media as a tool to empower survivors and amplify their voices, while highlighting the availability of shelters, legal services, medical care, and counseling for victims.

On his part, Adebesin Abiodun Abacha called for a holistic approach to addressing SGBV, particularly in rural communities where limited resources heighten vulnerability. He emphasized the need for stronger advocacy, increased awareness, and action-oriented support systems.

In his closing remarks, TMC-NEWS CEO and Convener, Tosin Oshibanjo, reaffirmed that “every individual deserves a life free from violence and fear.” He appealed for a more compassionate society that shares resources and knowledge to empower survivors while preventing further abuse.

Call to Action

The organizers urged the Ogun State Government to strengthen its support systems for SGBV victims through shelters, legal aid, counseling, and medical services. They also recommended sustained advocacy and awareness campaigns to combat the menace effectively.

TMC-NEWS believes the program has made a meaningful impact in Ijebu-Ode and expressed readiness to collaborate with government and stakeholders in building a safer, violence-free community.
