Fusengbuwa Secretary, Adeleke Reaffirms Ajidagba’s Leadership As Olori-Ebi

The Secretary of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Prince Adeleke Adeyemi, who also serves as General Secretary of the four ruling houses in Ijebu-Ode that produce the Awujale of Ijebuland, has reaffirmed the family’s position as it relates to the Olori-Ebi, Prince Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, stressing that his leadership is fully backed by historical records and legal pronouncements.

Prince Adeleke declared that the family remains in harmony and resolute and will not be distracted, noting that Olori-Ebi Otunba Ajidagba is backed by valid records.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists at his Onirungba office in Ijebu-Ode on Saturday, Adeleke maintained that Otunba Ajidagba remains the Olori-Ebi (head) of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

“I have said this repeatedly, our family has the backing of history and facts preserved by our forefathers at Ilenla Compound, Agunsebi. These facts are indisputable,” he stated.

He emphasized that the family’s position is supported by archival records, official certifications, and court rulings, all of which, under Ajidagba’s leadership, aim to preserve the family’s heritage and ensure clarity in succession matters for future generations.

According to him, these documents have been carefully preserved in the family archives and are now being shared publicly to dispel doubts and strengthen unity within the ruling house. Among the notable documents Adeleke listed are: (1). Affirmation certificate issued by the Ijebu-Ode Local Government. (2). Court judgment delivered by Justice A.O. Asenuga of the Ijebu-Ode High Court, ruling in favor of the 2nd to 5th claimants and against the selection of Otunba Lateef Owoyemi as Olori-Ebi due to questions over his lineage. (3). Membership card indicating Ilenla Compound, Agunsebi, as the root of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. (4). Appreciation letter from former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (2018), to the late Prince Adebisi Adeyemi, a former Olori-Ebi. (5). Correspondence from the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba S.K. Adetona, to the late Prince Adebisi Adeyemi on important family assignments. (6). Letters of solidarity from the other three ruling houses in Ijebu-Ode for annual family prayers and gatherings. (7). Official appointment letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (November 22, 2023) recognizing Prince Ajidagba as Olori-Ebi. (8). Notice of appointment of Prince Ajidagba as Olori-Ebi sent to the Executive Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government. (9). Notice of appointment of Prince Ajidagba as Olori-Ebi sent to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. (10). Family registration certificate issued by the local government in April 2022.

Prince Adeleke noted further that the family records establish a strong historical and legal foundation for the Ajidagba-led leadership of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

He added that the harmony of judicial pronouncements, royal recognition, and government certification ensures that the leadership of Prince Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba is both legitimate and enduring.

“Our father and leader, Prince Ajidagba, represents not just the present leadership of the Fusengbuwa family, but a secured legacy for generations to come,” he asserted.

Zambian Court Sentences Former Minister for Corruption

0

A Zambian court on Thursday sentenced former foreign minister Joseph Malanji to four years in prison with hard labour for corruption.

Malanji, who served under former president Edgar Lungu from 2018 to 2021, was arrested in late 2021 for allegedly using embezzled state funds to acquire property, including two Bell 420 helicopters.

The conviction marked a rare victory for state prosecutors in the southern African country, ranked among the world’s most corrupt by Transparency International’s 2024 perception index.

“I have heard the spirited mitigation by counsel and taken note that the convicts are first offenders and are entitled to leniency,” said Magistrate Ireen Wishimanga.

The 60-year-old will serve “four years imprisonment with hard labour”, she ruled.

Malanji’s co-accused, Fredson Yamba, will serve three years, she added.

Malanji’s co-accused, Fredson Yamba, will serve three years, she added.

It was not immediately clear if the pair will appeal the ruling.

They were the first top officials from Lungu’s government to be arrested on graft charges after President Hakainde Hichilema took office.

Hichilema has repeatedly vowed to root out corruption but critics say progress has been sluggish.

“I Remain Authentic Olori-Ebi Of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Not Owoyemi” – Ajidagba

“I Remain Authentic Olori-Ebi Of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Not Owoyemi” – Ajidagba

Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba has rejected the recent endorsement of Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi as Olori-Ebi (head) of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, insisting that he remains the authentic Olori-Ebi, backed by both court rulings and family endorsements.

Speaking at a press conference in his Ijebu-Ode residence on Wednesday, Ajidagba dismissed Owoyemi’s endorsement at an event held on Sunday at the Otunba Tunwase Museum, describing it as illegitimate and misleading.

According to him, the matter had already been settled by the Court of Appeal in Ibadan in 2024, following a legal tussle that began with a 2018 judgment delivered by Justice A.O. Asenuga of the Ijebu-Ode High Court. He presented court documents spanning 36 pages, showing himself, Owoyemi, and Prince Adeleke Adeyemi Olufadi as appellants in the case.

Ajidagba explained that the appellate court ruling favoured the Fusengbuwa family, after which Owoyemi resigned his position as Olori-Ebi. He claimed that he subsequently emerged as Olori-Ebi with the endorsement of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba S.K. Adetona, and formal certification from the Ijebu-Ode Local Government.

“After the appellate court’s ruling, the late Awujale personally endorsed me, and I was issued a certificate of endorsement by the local government affirming my position. Since then, I have been functioning as Olori-Ebi of the Fusengbuwa family. It is shocking to see a video circulating on social media of Owoyemi being endorsed by people who are not even members of our ruling house,” he said.

Ajidagba further stressed that the Fusengbuwa ruling house comprises eight units, which are; Osinuga, Adekenu, Olufadi, Adesimbo-Tunwase, Adebiyi, Adeberu, Shenowo, and Okuyendewo. He alleged that those backing Owoyemi were outsiders, insisting that his rival had questionable ancestral ties to Ijebu-Ode.

“I am a true son of the soil. Someone from Idowa, with roots traced to Ikoro-Ekiti, cannot suddenly become Olori-Ebi in Ijebu-Ode,” he maintained.

He also recalled that during the 90th birthday celebration of Oba Adetona, he represented the Fusengbuwa ruling house among the four recognized ruling houses of Ijebu-Ode; a further confirmation, he argued of his legitimacy.

Supporting Ajidagba’s claims, Alhaji Taheeb Mabadeje Alaga, head of the Ogbagba/Anikilaya ruling house and chairman of the four ruling houses in Ijebu-Ode, affirmed that Ajidagba remained the only recognized Olori-Ebi of the Fusengbuwa family.

“If anyone claims to be from Fusengbuwa and is not under the leadership of Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, such a person is an impostor. Those parading themselves have never participated in our family’s activities. Ajidagba is the only authentic Olori-Ebi of Fusengbuwa that I know,” Alaga stated.

Alaga concluded by appealing to members of the Fusengbuwa family to remain steadfast and resist attempts by outsiders to hijack the family’s structure.

Several officers of the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Ogun East, have been promoted and formally decorated in recognition of their diligence and service to Ogun State. The promotions were approved by the Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CFR, while the decoration was carried out at the Ijebu-Ode Zonal Command office.

The Zonal Commander, Engr. Ogundele Adewale S., explained that the exercise followed directives from the State Director of VIS, Engr. Ademehin Adewale. He noted that the elevation of the officers represents a call to higher responsibility.

Every assignment must be carried out with the interest of the agency at heart. Do it to promote and enhance the Vehicle Inspection Service in all your endeavours,” Engr. Ogundele urged.

Also speaking, Engr. The Head of Abigi Area Command, Engr. Adegbite Kehinde, added that the promotions were a reward for diligence and hard work, designed to encourage the officers to redouble their efforts.

Engr. Ogundele further charged the officers to uphold discipline, integrity, and professionalism while on duty. He cautioned against alcohol consumption during patrols and stressed the importance of respectful conduct towards motorists. “When you stop a car, greet first. We are not criminals but responsible, well-trained officers. Your attitude must show this at all times,” he emphasized.

2027: Wike Says Bringing Obi Will Destroy PDP

0

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned that the Peoples Democratic Party risks self-destruction if it attempts to bring back former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, into its fold.

Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike said the PDP had not learned from past mistakes that cost it dearly in the 2023 general elections.

He recalled that he and other party leaders had repeatedly cautioned against allowing both the presidential candidate and the national chairman to come from the North, a move he insisted was unjust and politically suicidal.

From day one, I told my colleagues, PDP, you are shooting yourself. If you allow what is going on to continue, you’ll pay. And what did I say? You cannot have the presidential candidate at the same time as the national chairman of the party,” Wike said.

The former Rivers State governor accused the PDP of “stealing” both positions and ignoring calls for fairness and balance, a decision he argued contributed to the party’s loss at the polls.

It is better now you have stolen the presidential ticket—and again stole the national chairman. I said it will purge you. And it really purged them. I have no regret for it,” he declared.

Wike insisted that the presidency must rotate back to the South to ensure equity and political stability.

According to him, the PDP’s arrogance and refusal to heed internal warnings have left the party weakened and vulnerable.

He also dismissed talks of Obi’s possible return to the PDP, describing the move as dangerous and hypocritical.

“To what? Bringing Obi to where? You want to kill the party? Obi that was abusing the party, saying it is rotten—so the party is now good enough for him? Ambition can make people even go to Satan’s house,” Wike said.

The minister stressed that such a decision would further erode the party’s credibility and destroy any remaining ideological foundation.

If you want to destroy this party, dare it—bring Obi. There’s no way he will come back just because of ambition. No more ideology, no longer principle,” he added.

Wike maintained that he stood by his long-held position that equity, justice, and zoning remain the only viable path for the PDP to regain national relevance.

Insecurity: El-Rufai Alleges FG Pays Bandits Monthly Allowance, Strengthening Them

0

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the Federal Government of deliberately empowering armed bandits through policies that provide them with monthly allowances and food supplies under the guise of non-kinetic security strategies.

Speaking on Sunday Politics, a Channels Television programme, El-Rufai described the approach as a “kiss-the-bandits policy” driven by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

What I will not do is to pay bandits, give them a monthly allowance, or send food to them in the name of non-kinetic. It’s nonsense; we’re empowering bandits,” the former governor said.

He argued that such measures only embolden the criminals and worsen insecurity.

You don’t empower your enemy; you don’t give him money to go and buy sophisticated weapons. That is why the insecurity problem has not gone away and will not go away as long as this policy continues,” El-Rufai added.

The former minister of the Federal Capital Territory maintained that negotiations and incentives for bandits were counterproductive.

My position has always been that the only repentant bandit is a dead one. Let’s kill them all. Let’s bomb them until they are reduced to nothing, and then the five per cent that still want to be rehabilitated can be rehabilitated,” he insisted.

El-Rufai further claimed that residents of northern states such as Katsina, Zamfara, and Kaduna are aware of the alleged government-backed appeasement.

They can deceive, they can cover up, they can do propaganda, but those that live in Katsina, those that live in Zamfara, those that live in Kaduna… they know what is happening,” he said.

Challenging the authorities, he added: “Let the governor or anyone come and deny. When the time comes, we will reveal everything.”

NUJ Ogun-East Inaugurates Task Force To Tackle Fake News, Quack Journalism

The Ogun-East Independent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), under the leadership of Comrade Oluseun Oduneye, has inaugurated a task force to work with security agencies in combating the spread of fake news and identifying unprofessional journalists operating within the region.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Chapel explained that the initiative aligns with the directive of the State Council of the NUJ, following the inauguration of the Chapel’s executive members.

The task force will be led by the Chapel’s Treasurer, Comrade Dairo Johnson, with support from Comrade Ademola Ogunlana, Assistant Secretary, and Mr. Damilare Majekodunmi.

“The growing trend of fake news and unverified reports; often spread through social media by bloggers and content creators who parade themselves as journalists has dire consequences for journalism.

“It erodes public trust in the media, undermines democracy, promotes social unrest, fuels political conflicts, and negatively affects society at large.”

The Chapel expressed concern about the rising number of untrained individuals posing as journalists, particularly those acting as media aides to political office holders and private organizations, stressing that such practices damage the credibility of the profession.
