APC Must Stand Firm Behind Dapo Abiodun’s Proven Achievements

The All-Progressives Congress (APC) must not allow politically motivated allegations to overshadow the tangible progress and achievements recorded under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s leadership as Ogun State’s governor.

At a time when Nigerians demand results, Abiodun has consistently delivered in critical areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development.

His administration has attracted significant investments to Ogun State, expanded road networks, improved access to quality healthcare, and strengthened the state’s position as an industrial hub.

These are not abstract promises but measurable outcomes that have positively impacted millions of lives.

Little wonder, the private sector in the likes of Zenith Bank Plc, Access Bank and the rest are interested in working with a working governor.

Attempts to discredit Abiodun through unproven allegations ignore the fact that governance is ultimately judged by performance. His numerous achievements are evidenced by the volume of infrastructure that has drawn President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s applause.

Need we remind Gov Abiodun’s traducers of President Tinubu’s recent statement about Gov Abiodun.
“In less than seven years, you, Dapo Abiodun, have demonstrated commitment, vision, and patriotism to grow Nigeria.

” We celebrate your contribution to national development. I have no regrets for whatever we have done with you.

“As your President, I am pleased to see that the increase in federal allocations is being effectively and judiciously used to build our country.

“I congratulate the people of this great state for supporting a government that is delivering measurable progress, and I thank you for your continued faith in our nation.”

The courts remain the proper venue for resolving disputes, and until due process concludes, it is both unfair and politically reckless to dismiss a leader who has demonstrated competence and vision. To do so would not only undermine the principle of justice but also alienate the many citizens who have directly benefited from his policies.

Electoral strength is built on credibility and delivery. Abiodun’s record of infrastructural renewal, youth empowerment programs, and support for small businesses has strengthened the APC’s grassroots appeal in Ogun State and beyond.

Far from being a liability, his achievements provide the party with a compelling narrative of progress and continuity. The claim that he lacks political reliability is contradicted by his ability to secure re-election and maintain stability in a diverse and competitive state.
In even clearer terms, rejecting Dapo Abiodun would mean discarding a proven achiever whose governance track record strengthens the APC’s claim to responsible leadership.

Rather than bowing to politically charged attacks, the party should highlight his successes as evidence of its commitment to development, accountability, and the future prosperity of Nigeria.

It is important to remind those who have chosen to launch relentless attacks against Governor Dapo Abiodun that politics must be conducted with responsibility and respect for truth.

The resort to unverified allegations and character assassination does not strengthen democracy; it weakens it. Ogun State and Nigeria at large deserve a political culture built on ideas, achievements, and constructive debate—not smear campaigns.

Governor Abiodun’s record of service speaks for itself, and attempts to distract from his accomplishments through unfounded claims only risk damaging the credibility of those making them.

The public is increasingly discerning, and voters are not swayed by baseless attacks but by visible progress in governance. Persisting in this path of hostility will not only erode trust but may also backfire, painting the opposition as desperate rather than principled.

We urge political opponents to desist from malicious campaigns and instead engage in issue-based politics.
Let the contest of 2027 be about who can best serve the people, not who can shout the loudest accusations. Democracy thrives when leaders and parties elevate the conversation, not drag it into the mud
