CSR: AMACOS ’95 Donates N1.02m to St. John’s Primary School, Abeokuta

The Association of Mass Communication Students of Ogun State Polytechnic, AMACOS Class of ’95 — now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) — has donated N1,020,000 to St. John’s Primary School, Agbena, Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The donation is aimed at supporting basic education and creating a more conducive learning environment for pupils, whom members described as the “leaders of tomorrow.”

The intervention is part of activities marking the 30th post-graduation anniversary of the AMACOS ’95 set, celebrated in October 2025.

Earlier during the anniversary celebrations, members of the association visited the school and donated educational materials — including school bags and books — valued at over N500,000.

However, after witnessing the difficult conditions faced by many of the pupils, the group led by it’s President, Mr. Percy Ademokun further pledged to provide school uniforms and pairs of sandals for each pupil.

The newly released N1.02 million was raised through pledges from individual members and chapters of the association specifically to fund the project for uniforms and footwear for the children.

Receiving the donation, the Headmistress of St. John’s Primary School, Abeokuta, Mrs. Sobowale Omotunde Folake, commended the association for its compassion and commitment to the educational future of the pupils.

The Headmistress assured that the funds would be judiciously utilised, noting that “children are like flowers that must be nurtured to blossom.”

Other beneficiaries of the association’s 30th post-graduation CSR projects include their alma mater, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, where the Mass Communication Department’s broadcast studio and newsroom were refurbished and upgraded with some state-of-the-art equipment.

Additional interventions carried out by the association at the department include:
Installation of a solar power system to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply; Provision of a multimedia projector for lectures and presentations; and
Installation of a Wi-Fi router with internet subscription paid up to July 2026.

The initiatives, according to the Exco of the association, reflect its commitment to giving back to both their alma mater and the wider community for a better tomorrow for all and sundry.
