OmoOwo Storms Ojude Oba and Ariya Odun, Reaffirms Commitment to Cultural Heritage and Social Unity
Alhaji Abdul-Hammed Femi Omotayo, widely known as OmoOwo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Ogun East, was among prominent personalities who graced two major socio-cultural and religious events in Ogun State over the weekend, further demonstrating his growing engagement with communities across the state.
The respected businessman, philanthropist and political figure attended the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival held on Friday at the historic palace grounds of the Awujale in Ijebu-Ode. He was accompanied by PDP governorship aspirant, Chief Ladi Adebutu, alongside other party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters who joined thousands of festival-goers in celebrating one of Nigeria’s most iconic cultural festivals.
The annual celebration attracted sons and daughters of Ijebuland, traditional rulers, political leaders, business personalities, and visitors from across the country and beyond. The colourful event featured the iconic Regberegbe age-grade processions, spectacular horse-riding displays by Balogun families, cultural performances, and prayers for peace, prosperity, and continued progress in Ijebuland and Ogun State.
OmoOwo was warmly received by participants and admirers who commended his consistent support for initiatives that promote cultural identity, unity, and community development.
Continuing his engagements, OmoOwo on Saturday, May 30, attended the Egba Muslim Community Award Presentation Ceremony and Ariya Odun held at the prestigious Ake Palace Square in Abeokuta. Once again, he was in the company of Chief Ladi Adebutu, other PDP leaders, party faithful, and supporters, reflecting the party’s continued engagement with religious and community-based activities across Ogun State.
The gathering brought together eminent Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, community stakeholders, professionals, and public figures in celebration of faith, service, and communal harmony.
In a demonstration of his support for community-driven development and religious infrastructure, OmoOwo also made a modest donation towards the ongoing expansion project of the Egba Central Mosque. The gesture was warmly acknowledged by organisers and attendees, who appreciated his willingness to identify with causes aimed at strengthening communal and spiritual development.
His presence at the event underscored his belief in the importance of religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and the strengthening of bonds among diverse communities across Ogun State. Participants lauded his accessibility and his continued efforts towards fostering dialogue, inclusion, and grassroots empowerment.
Speaking on the significance of attending both events, OmoOwo emphasized that cultural heritage and religious values remain critical pillars for building a peaceful and prosperous society. He noted that Ogun State’s strength lies in its diversity, rich traditions, and the collective commitment of its people to unity and progress.
According to him, active participation in cultural and religious activities provides an opportunity to connect directly with the people, appreciate their aspirations, and contribute meaningfully to conversations that advance development and social cohesion.
Political observers noted that the presence of OmoOwo, Chief Ladi Adebutu, party leaders, and supporters at both events highlighted the PDP’s efforts to maintain close ties with grassroots communities while identifying with cultural and religious institutions that continue to shape the social fabric of Ogun State.
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, OmoOwo’s participation in key cultural and religious gatherings continues to reinforce his message of inclusiveness, people-oriented leadership, and a vision for a more united, peaceful, and progressive Ogun State.
